Warp knitting technology performed on Flat knitting machine

 

Linear flatbed knitting machines are used for creating warp knitted garments. It contains two-needle slabs, both for two-layered cloth material on each side. For manufacturing the circular fabric, both the edges of the garment gets joined. Then it is getting knitted on each slab of the machine.

· By changing movement of the needles on the vertical side for creating and casting off the stitches

Working of a flatbed warp- knitting machine:

 

The method begins when the needles are present at their upper-level position with the front loops available around their stem.

(1) In step 1, threads move front to the end from the backside to the front of the needles.

(2) Then it goes on the overlapping stage. In step 2, the yarn performs a sideways movement from one needle to the other to get placed under the fastener of the needle. These threads then get rotated to the rear of the needle.

(3) In step 3, the needles start moving in the downwards direction. 

(4) In step 4, it involves the closing of the hooks when the needle goes down. Previous cycle loops present under the needle hooks eventually reach the top of the needles. Then, the yarn gets pulled down through the tension of the fabric. This phase is known as the underlap stage.

(5) In stage 5, the needles arise again, and the threads move in an upward and downward direction.

(6) The yarn present in the hooks prompts the fasteners to get opened. Then the thread goes down from the needles to forming the new loops.

 

Underlap Phase: 

· In this phase, needles are in a downward direction. 

· It gets starts from the point where the last stitch stops off and then thread goes towards the new position. The yarn finally reaches towards its destination target needle. 

· The final position of the thread placed at such a point where the target needle must arise at the beginning of the yarn. 

· The needle should be present at a suitable height for enabling the thread to cross under the needle latch.

 

Overlap Phase:

 

· This stage starts when the needle arrived in an upward position. 

· In this phase, the yarn gets covered around only on a single needle. The thread gets placed under the latch of the needle. The yarn must present sufficiently near the stem for ensuring that the needle picks it up on its downward direction.
